The all-conquering Ship Inn (Elie) XI, who have made their pavilion the historic Ship Inn since 1991, and who play on the Blue Flag beach which fronts the pub, have played host to some of cricket's best known names. In 2003 and 2004, The Ship Inn CC played host to one of cricket's highest profile teams, Lashings Cricket Club, the Harlem Globetrotters of the sport.
We are delighted to announce that our Cricket team has a new main sponsor in Rettie & Co, and Deuchars IPA and Bollinger have agreed to become the Official Beer and Champagne of The Ship Inn CC.
The Ship Inn CC appoints a new Vice-captain
Following John Wardlaw’s completion of his three year term of office as Vice-Captain of The Ship Inn CC, I am delighted to announce that our new Vice-Captain until 2010 will be the Captain’s cousin, Marc Abbott. Marc has represented The Ship Inn CC on 102 occasions and is slowly approaching the landmark of 100 wickets for his side. He presently is on 92, some ten more than he had four years ago!! We look forward to checking the standard of his rolling of the wicket during the tea interval which is one of the many vital onerous duties which are the responsibility of the Vice-Captain.
Hit a Six Promotion
Any player hitting a six into The Ship Inn Beer Garden during an official match in 2008 will win a bottle of the One Chain Brut Sparkling wine ‘Howzat!’. Many thanks to the generosity of Alliance Wines for making this promotion possible.
