MATCH REPORT | 14 SEPTEMBER | Ship Inn CC v Grange CC
posted : Sep 15, 2008

The Ship Inn CC travelled to the home of the Grange CC in Edinburgh for our traditional end of season match. Whilst conditions overhead were satisfactory, the pitch itself was very wet and The Ship chose to bat first in the hope of roughing up the wicket for the opposition. First we had the pleasure of Bill Milroy, in Grange colours today, setting fire to the lawnmower in his capacity as the home side’s groundsman. Having failed to cut the wicket, and in the absence of a ‘squeegy’, a roller was brought our in an effort to get rid of some of the moisture. Our home pitch on the beach at Elie has looked drier than this wicket all season!! The Ship fielded two new caps in Laurence Bax and Archie Crawford.
